Storytime with Courtney Gilardi
All ages are welcome!
Fridays in November and December
Sing, stretch, dance, count, clap and create during our story and craft time! Little ones will explore a variety of circle songs, yoga stretches, finger rhymes, counting activities, movement stories and of course the very best books ever. A seasonally themed craft project exploring different materials will follow. Story time is excellent for helping children expand their language, listening and participation skills, supporting social emotional skills, creating a love of literacy and preparing for preschool!
Courtney Gilardi is an educator with 26 years of teaching experience spanning early childhood to college and adult education. She spent the last ten years as Creative Director of Lenox Preschool, and consults with new and existing programs as well as working with families to support whole child learning and healthy social emotional growth and development. She is currently writing a book on transforming early education through kindness, mindfulness, yoga, positive psychology, growth mindset and resiliency practices.
Special Guest in Katie's Korner: Local Author Neha Das
Saturday, November 9
Local author Neha Das will be reading her book, My Shining Star, followed by a Q & A session for kids who want to learn more about writing books. "My Shining Star" is an illustrated children's book that addresses life in a family with a working mom in a way that emphasizes love and empowerment so that children can understand that a mom's passion for her career does not in any way diminish her love for her children. The book will be available for purchase at the event. Neha Das, DDS lives with her husband and two daughters in the beautiful Berkshires of Massachusetts. She is a board certified pediatric dentist, baking aficionado (it helps to have three eager taste testers in the house), bookworm, and a lifelong student. She loves hiking, singing off-key, having impromptu dance parties, and laughing as much as possible. Neha firmly believes that children are capable of understanding complex concepts when we find the right way to communicate and has dedicated her life to learning more about
the most effective ways to talk to our kids.
